The ninth season of High Stakes Poker is set to premiere exclusively on PokerGO on Monday, February 21, 2022, at 8 p.m. ET.
The commentary booth will be headlined by High Stakes Poker hosts Gabe Kaplan and AJ Benza, while the likes of Doyle Brunson, Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, and Patrik Antonius will all be featured throughout the 14 episodes of Season 9.
With eight seasons of poker’s most iconic show available on PokerGO.com, it’s time to look at some of the incredible poker statistics that High Stakes Poker has yielded since it first began airing in 2006.
The first seven seasons of High Stakes Poker would see Daniel Negreanu, Doyle Brunson, Antonio Esfandiari, and Barry Greenstein appear in every season. When the show returned in 2021, all four players were absent for Season 8, however, Season 9 will see both Negreanu and Brunson make their return.
Negreanu and Brunson will now break the four-way tie with Esfandiari and Greenstein to lead High Stakes Poker season appearances with eight. Esfandiari and Greenstein sit on seven season appearances, while Eli Elezra and Phil Laak are tied with six season appearances. There is a seven-way tie for four season appearances, and with Patrik Antonius appearing in Season 9, he will now have five season appearances, while Tom Dwan and Phil Ivey will now make it an eight-way tie with Sammy Farha, Jennifer Harman, Mike Matusow, Phil Hellmuth, David Benyamine, and Todd Brunson with four season appearances after they both took a seat throughout Season 9.
Daniel Negreanu not only leads season appearances with eight, but he is also the runaway leader of most episode appearances with 73. Sitting behind Negreanu are Barry Greenstein (48), Doyle Brunson (47), Antonio Esfandiari (44), and Tom Dwan (38).
Negreanu will appear in eight High Stakes Poker episodes during Season 9 to take his overall tally to 81. Brunson will also be featured in eight episodes and move into second place overall ahead of Greenstein with 55. Dwan will climb from sixth overall to sit in third place behind Brunson with 52 episodes once Season 9 concludes.
Fans of High Stakes Poker have always wanted their favorite players on the show battling for the highest stakes, but new players give fresh life to the show.
During Season 9, there will be nine players making their High Stakes Poker debut. The most notable of these players include Koray Aldemir who was fresh off his 2021 WSOP Main Event victory, high-stakes cash game regular Garrett Adelstein, WSOP bracelet winner and Academy Award-nominated actress Jennifer Tilly, and DoorDash co-founder Stanley Tang.
Throughout nine seasons of High Stakes Poker, there have been a total of 102 unique players to take a seat on the show. Excluding Season 1, the most players making their debut was in Season 8 when 16 players make their first High Stakes Poker appearance. Those players included Jean-Robert Bellande, Bryn Kenney, Jason Koon, Nick Petrangelo, Doug Polk, Lynne Ji, and businessmen Michael Schwimer and Chamath Palihapitiya.
Beginning on February 21, Monday will be the home of High Stakes Poker for Season 9 as 14 episodes are set to air until May 23.
High Stakes Poker episodes will air exclusively on PokerGO.com at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT with your favorite players returning, and new blood experiencing High Stakes Poker for the first time.
