Jesse Lonis came into the final table of Event #9: $15,100 Pot-Limit Omaha as the chip leader before falling to the short stack four-handed, but the dip was only temporary, as he would go on to eliminate all three of his opponents to collect the $308,850 first-place prize, the 247 PGT points and his fourth career PGT title.

The final table of the penultimate event of the 2025 PGT PLO Series started with a bang as Daniel Negreanu found his short stack of 640,000 in the middle holding a pair and an open ended straight draw from the big blind only to see his was dominated by Chino Rheem who had a better pair, a flush draw and covered part of Negreanu's straight draw. The river bircked, and Negreanu's day was done in fifth place for $74,550 plus 60 PGT points on the day's first hand.

Lonis would then tumble down the leaderboard as four-handed play got underway, losing a couple of medium-sized pots to Lautaro Guerra along the way to hand the Spaniard the chip lead momentarily before Rheem found himself the aggressor to pull in front of the field. Lonis would then turn two pairs and river a straight to score a double through Guerra to move within striking distance of Rheem at the top.

Following the double, it was all Lonis as he would flop a full house a few hands later to send Guerra and his turned broadway straight out the door in fourth place for $101,175 plus 81 PGT points. Alex Foxen came into the day as the second shortest stack to Negreanu and hung around valiantly for a lader when Guerra hit the rail, but he too was no match for Lonis.

In a blind vs. blind limped pot pre-flop, Foxen got all in on the turn for his last million chips holding a nine-high straight, only to see Lonis had turned a ten-high straight, leaving him dead to a chop on the river. The river failed to come up a nine, and Foxen's day was done in third place for $143,775 plus 115 PGT points.

This left Lonis with about a two-to-one chip lead to start the heads-up match, and while Rheem hit a couple of jabs early to stick around, Lonis didn't waste much time before closing out the tournament. Lonis opened the button to 200,000, Rheem three-bet to 600,000 from the big blind, and Lonis called. The flop fell queen high rainbow, and after a brief raising war, the rest of Rheem's 2,480,000 chips were in the middle.

Rheem had flopped top pair top kicker, but Lonis had flopped top two pair with queens and fives. The turn gave Rheem straight outs to go along with his two pair outs, but the river bricked out and he hit the rail in second place for $202,350 plus 162 PGT points.

Third Place Enough to Keep Foxen Atop Series Leaderboard

Coming into the Event #9 final table, a win would have put Rheem, Negreanu, or Lonis into the top spot for the series leader. However, once he hit third place, Foxen was able to secure 115 PGT points and knock Lonis out of the running to take the top spot heading into the championship event. Lonis trails Foxen by 28 points heading into the final two events, while Rheem is now in third with 506 points after his runner-up finish.

Negreanu picked up 60 points for the fifth-place finish and moved in front of Tyler Brwon on the leaderboard, but stayed in fifth place as the dust from the final table settled. Bryce Yockey, who finished in 8th place in Event #9, added 34 points to his total but dropped from second to fourth with 437 points.

The rest of the top ten remain unchanged as Tyler Brown (344 points), Dylan Smith (305 points), Sean Rafael (249 points), James Chen (US) (245 points), and Ben Tollerene (238 points) remain within striking distance of the top spot. However, if they want to catch Foxen at the top, they will need to run well and have some help.

Fourth-place finisher and the Inaugural PGT PLO series Champion in 2023, Guerrra, picked up his fifth cash of the series and sits just outside the top ten with 224 points, good for twelfth place.

Rheem Takes Over 2025 Season Points Lead

Seventy-one entrants made their way into the PokerGO Studio for the penultimate event of the 2025 PGT PLO Series, and with a prize pool of $1,065,000 up for grabs, the 2025 Top 40 sees a new challenger for the top spot. Rheem added 162 points to his season total and now sits in first place with 928 points on the year, 21 points ahead of Joey Weissman for first.

Event #9 marked Rheem's sixth final table, eighth total cash, and fourth podium finish of the year, as he is closing in on a million in season earnings on the PGT. Kristen Foxen falls from second to third, and after picking up his thirteenth cash of the year with an 8th place finish in Event #9, Nick Schulman is hot on her heels. His 848 points trail her by just nine points, as we are reaching the quarter-season mark.

Negreanu moves from sixth to fifth thanks to his 60 points in Event #9 and now leads Eric Blair by seven points to round out the top five. Event #9 Champion Lonis makes an appearance in the top ten for the first time this season as he now has 660 points on the year to lock up the eighth spot and send Joao Simao tumbling out of the top ten.
