The 2024 Super High Roller Series concluded at the Merit Royal Diamond Hotel & Spa in North Cyprus, producing a new number one on the PGT leaderboard.
After cashing in three events, winning $1,635,000 in prize money, and amassing 661 PGT points, Jeremy Ausmus has overtaken Michael Rocco to claim the top spot on the PGT leaderboard.
Making the trip to North Cyprus to have an exclusive opportunity to earn PGT points, Ausmus began the Super High Roller Series with a sixth-place finish in Event #2: $25,750 No-Limit Hold'em (7-Max) for $62,000 and 37 PGT points. Two events later, Ausmus finished runner-up to Masashi Oya in Event #4: $51,500 No-Limit Hold'em (7-Max) for $373,000 in prize money and 224 PGT points.
As one of the 24 entrants in Super High Roller Bowl IX, he was guaranteed to take the top spot from Rocco once Ausmus reached the money-paying final four. Ausmus managed to ladder up one place after entering the final day as the short stack, and for his third-place finish, he earned $1,200,000 in prize money and 400 PGT points.
"Going into the year, I feel like I am one of the favorites to win the PGT leaderboard. Without a doubt," Ausmus said about potentially finishing as the PGT Player of the Year. "I'm definitely one of the top guys. It would mean a lot. There's the extra $50,000, which is amazing. It's something that I think about going into the year and throughout the year. Partially made this trip for that. If this wasn't a PGT, I may not have come."
Ausmus is now 325 PGT points ahead of Rocco, 430 PGT points ahead of 2024 WSOP Main Event champion Jonathan Tamayo, 447 PGT points ahead of Jesse Lonis, and 500 PGT points ahead of Daniel Negreanu in fifth place. Ausmus' place on top isn't safe as approximately 40 events remain in the 2024 PGT season, but he is essentially guaranteed a seat in the PGT Championship $1,000,000 Freeroll. He will likely be well-positioned starting stack-wise against the remainder of the field come the PGT Championship in early January.
