The PGT PLO Series II presented by PLO Mastermind, has crowned its newest series champion. American Matthew Wantman topped the leaderboard to win the PGT Gold Cup and a $10,000 PGT Passport.
Wantman follows in the footsteps of Finland's Samuli Sipila, Spaniard Lautaro Guerra, and American Daniel Geeng, who were previous PGT PLO Series champions. Wantman fought off late surges from Sipila in the $25k Pot-Limit Omaha Championship and Daniel Negreanu in the $5k Pot-Limit Omaha Bounty to finish on top and claim his first career PGT series championship.
According to The Hendon Mob, Wantman has amassed more than $7,163,000 in lifetime tournament earnings and now sits 114th on the USA's All-Time Money List.
Wantman began his PGT PLO Series II campaign with a ninth-place finish in Event #2 before he claimed his third career PGT title by winning Event #3 for $178,250 in prize money. In the next event, Wantman reached another final table before falling in fourth place for $90,000 in prize money. In Event #5. Wantman finished in 11th place before he returned to the final table in Event #6 with a third-place finish for $119,600. Wantman's final result in the PGT PLO Series II would be a seventh-place finish in Event #9 for $10,080.
In total, Wantman cashed six times and made four final tables. He earned his third career PGT title and accumulated $434,380 in PGT earnings for 453 PGT points and the title of PGT PLO Series II champion.

Wantman finished with 453 PGT points to be crowned the PGT PLO Series champion. In the process, he rose into a tie for 41st place on the PGT leaderboard with Sergio Aido on 905 PGT points. He sits ahead of Ren Lin (893 PGT points), Danny Tang (881 PGT points), and Stephen Chidwick (870 PGT points), while also trailing Scott Seiver (37th - 1,003 PGT points), Jonathan Little (38th - 923 PGT points), Justin Saliba (39th - 921 PGT points), and Isaac Haxton (40th - 907 PGT points).

Wantman was leading the PGT PLO Series II leaderboard for the final few events, but heading into the final day, he had to fade a final table finish from Alex Foxen, and victories from Samuli Sipila and Ben Lamb in the $25k Pot-Limit Omaha Championship. With one more event on the schedule, players including Daniel Negreanu, Jeremy Ausmus, and Foxen all attempted to pick up the necessary points to overtake Wantman until he himself finished in the money and locked up his place atop the PGT PLO Series II leaderboard.
Ausmus finished second overall with 420 PGT points from his four cashes while Foxen finished third with 378 PGT points. Negreanu cashed five times during the series and finished fourth on the PGT PLO Series II leaderboard with 366 PGT points, while defending champion Sipila finished in a gallant fifth place with 347 PGT points.

Some of the world's best Pot-Limit Omaha players collected PGT PLO Series II trophies during the series, including Poker Hall of Fame member Daniel Negreanu. Inaugural PGT PLO Series champion Lautaro Guerra won his fourth career PGT title in the opening event for $178,25 in prize money after topping Josh Arieh in heads-up play.
Dylan Weisman won Event #2 in this series in March and won Event #2 in this series for his fourth PGT title of the season. Weisman earned $88,245 in prize money and $107,000 in bounties. Isaac Haxton continued his winning ways for the year by earning his second PGT title by winning Event #5. He claimed $169,740 in prize money and $214,000 in bounties.
Negreanu earned his third PGT title of the season, and second PGT PLO Series title for the year after winning Event #6. In the process, he moved to second on the PGT leaderboard behind Jeremy Ausmus, who claimed his first PGT victory in 684 days after winning Event #7 for $288,000.
Ben Tollerene won the Poker Masters $25k No-Limit Hold'em finale a month ago for $510,000 in prize money. He now adds a PGT PLO Series $25k Pot-Limit Omaha title and $496,000 in prize money to his resume.
The fourth installment of the PGT PLO Series featured 965 total entrants and 139 unique players across nine events. The PGT PLO Series presented by PLO Mastermind will return in March 2025 as one of the marquee series of the PGT season.
