The first hand up during this look back on what entertained us in 2018 featured one of the most successful female tournament players of all time, Kathy Liebert. The Poker Kat did not back down from Melanie Weisner calling her down, but emptying the clip proved to be expensive as her opponent was going nowhere in this pot worth nearly $70,000. Relive “Femme Fatale” week on Poker After Dark in full right here as Kristen Bicknell, Kitty Kuo, Tracy Nguyen, JJ Liu, and Sofia Lovgren.
Pivoting to the tournament scene, the next hand takes place at the final table of a $10,000 ARIA High Roller Series event. Two of the game’s best, Jake Schindler and Stephen Chidwick, square off in a big hand where the Brit runs a huge bluff while Schindler tries to figure him out. Relive that whole final table right here on PokerGO.
From the PokerGO Studio to the World Series of Poker Main Event, the next big moment came on Day 4 of poker’s annual pilgrimage. One of the game’s most feared and successful players, Phil Ivey, tried running a bluff on Brian Altman, who wasn’t having any of it. Want to learn more about the call Altman made? Read the interview with him right here.
Coming in at No. 2, a massive call in a massive spot made by Daniel Negreanu. On the money bubble during the 2018 Super High Roller Bowl, Nick Petrangelo put one of the game’s all-time greats to the test but this turned out to be unsuccessful. Watch the full 2018 Super High Roller Bowl recap on PokerGO right here.
And then the best hero call of the year according to our observations, a big hand in which Antonio Esfandiari gets picked off. As the game’s biggest talkers gathered in the PokerGO Studio, Jared Jaffee called down Esfandiari during “Talk the Talk” week on Poker After Dark. Watch the full highlights of “Talk the Talk” week right here, and scroll up to watch this epic hero call unfold with six-high versus a mere pair of fives for $110,000.
