The PokerStars North American Poker Tour Las Vegas crowned another winner at Resorts World in Las Vegas, with Stephen Song emerging victorious in the $25,000 Super High Roller. Song topped the 60-entrant field and defeated Sean Winter heads-up to claim the $439,400 first-place prize and 264 PGT points.
This is Song's second victory of 2024 after he won the EPT Barcelona €5,300 Main Event for €1,290,386 in September. Song now climbs to more than $8,440,000 in lifetime tournament earnings, according to The Hendon Mob. Song also sits 195th on the All-Time Money List behind Kristen Foxen and Cliff Josephy.
Song now moves into 86th on the PGT leaderboard with 549 PGT points from his four cashes. Song has $725,074 in PGT earnings for 2024, and this victory is his first PGT title from his fourth time reaching the final three players in a PGT-qualifying event.
Day 3 of the NAPT Las Vegas $25,000 Super High Roller resumed with just four players from the original 60-entrant field. Song held a commanding chip lead over fellow PGT regulars Winter, Jim Collopy, and Ed Sebesta. Collopy was the first elimination of the day when he was all-in with ace-queen suited against the ace-four of Song. Both players flopped top pair, but the four on the turn thrust Song into the lead as a blank rolled off on the river.
After the first break of the day, Sebesta would be eliminated in third place when he was all-in with ace-king against the pocket tens of Song. The board bricked out for the Texas-native, and the tournament was down to the final two players with Song holding a slightly better than a two-to-one advantage entering heads-up play with Winter.
Winter slowly chipped away at Song's advantage before taking the chip lead when he picked off a Song bluff with trips. Both players traded the chip lead back and forth before a huge clash that saw Song see his straight draw improve to a pair on the river. Winter bet the river and Song used several time extensions before calling to best Winter's second pair.
Following the final break, Winter scored a double with ace-three suited against Song's queen-jack before the final hand saw Winter all-in with queen-five suited against the ace-nine of Song. Song flopped two pair and had Winter drawing dead on the turn.
