Brock Wilson collected his second cash and first win of the series by taking down Event #7: $15,100 No-Limit Hold'em of the 2024 Poker Masters presented by PokerStars NAPT.
The New York native would go wire-to-wire to collect the trophy and $330,600 first-place prize by defeating Michael "Texas Mike" Moncek heads-up.
This was Wilson's second overall PGT trophy and the score pushes his career tournament earnings to more than $9,000,000, according to The Hendon Mob.
Wilson started the day with around a two-and-a-half to one chip lead over his next closest competitor, Seth Davies, but after Wilson eliminated Davies early on, he would possess 70% of the chips in play.
The Fordham University alum would not relinquish the chip lead from there and went on to eliminate everyone but David Stamm.
Wilson mentioned he worked as a financial analyst in the banking industry for two years before making the leap into poker full time and since doing so, he's collected an impressive resume that includes PGT, WPT, and WSOP Circuit wins.
The penultimate event of the series drew a 76-entrant field and created a prize pool of $1,140,000. The final 11 players made the money, including Alex Foxen, Victoria Livschitz, Justin Saliba, Nicholas Seward, Clemen Deng, and Kristen Foxen.
Davies was first to exit the streamed final table after trying to make a move on Wilson. Davies four-bet shipped ace-three suited from the button over Wilson's small blind three-bet, only to run into Wilson’s jacks. Davies would turn a flush draw, but a blank on the river eliminated him in fifth place and gave Wilson nearly three-quarters of the chips in play.
Out next was David Stamm. This was Stamm’s second Poker Masters cash and the tenth six-figure cash of his career. Stamm came in as the shortest stack and the recreational pilot was hoping for a smooth landing, but his day would come to an end when he moved all-in from the small blind with king-seven offsuit and was called by Moncek in the big blind with ace-three suited. Stamm found no help on the flop and Moncek turned an ace to leave him drawing dead. Stamm collected more than $108,000 for the effort.
Three-handed play saw Moncek and John Riordan jockeying back-and-forth for second chip position, and in one hand, Riordan dramatically doubled through chip leader Wilson by spiking one of his four outs on the river to complete a gutshot straight draw with king-queen on ace-ten-six-nine-jack. However, he would become the short stack after losing a hand to Moncek where Moncek tabled ace-king on ace-jack-nine-jack-ten, and Riordan would be eliminated shortly after when he called all in from the big blind with pocket sixes against a small blind shove from Wilson with ten-eight offsuit. Wilson would effectively flop Riordan dead on a monotone ace-ten-three all-hearts board, as Wilson held the eight of hearts, leaving Riordan drawing to only one out. The six of spades did not materialize and he was out the door in third for nearly $154,000.
After eliminating Riordan, Wilson would carry a more than a six-to-one chip lead into heads-up play against Moncek, and after taking down the first couple of pots, Moncek found himself down to around ten big blinds. Wilson would then move all in from the button with king-six suited and Moncek made the call with queen-four suited. Wilson flopped a six and Moncek would not catch up from there to be eliminated in second place on a final board of ace-ten-six-three-ace. This was Moncek's second runner-up finish of the series.
